A client asked, "How do I get help?" My response? Apply the wisdom of the above Japanese proverb to the principles of a Master Mind Group (MMG) and you will have a very powerful support system.
Napoleon Hill, the renowned author is on p7 of my Amazon shop. He first defined the "Master Mind" as a “coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose.”
His concept of the “Master Mind” was inspired by Andrew Carnegie, wealthy steel magnate. According to Hill in a MMG you have:
- A group of people available to help you succeed
- The benefit of differing perspectives, input and feedback
- A team that brings resources and connections to the table; skills you might not have had on your own.
Your MMG can be as small as two people and as big as your ability to coordinate it. There are two basic types:
- One which is focused on the success and vision of one individual
- One that is focused on helping everyone in the group
To create a MMG that is dedicated to helping you achieve your personal goals, you can simply reach out to people in your network. Ask for their help with confidence (people are attracted to confidence) and invite them to join you. Consider your MMG as your personal board of directors. As Napoleon Hill said, "Do it now!"
You’d be surprised at how willing many people are to help when asked, since it is flattering to be asked for your opinion. You don’t necessarily need to meet with your entire team in person in a formal setting. You might chat with each individually on the phone, set up an email discussion or conference call. And if the term Master Mind does not appeal to you, then call it your research and development group.
It does not really matter what you call it, is so long as all members of the group are meeting to support each another. Identify what you can offer to your 'co-masterminders' and commit to helping them. However you create your MMG, consider it an essential part of your success plan. Treat your MMG with utmost respect.
Let me close with this personal endorsement - starting Master Mind Groups is the single most important strategy I have employed since I started my first business back in 1992. With many years of MMG experience I have processes that work. If you would like to know more, contact via Virtual Conscience - my unique support system created especially for my readers.
